February 11& 12

Latter Prophets I
Students will learn the basic components of starting a new church: the call of the leader, Vineyard's process for identifying and helping candidate church planters, God's guidance, the pioneering church planting team, demographic research, relationships with people socially well-connected to the target area, stages of church growth, etc. In addition, an overview of the vital signs, essential principles, and necessary practices of a healthy growing church will be given.

March 11 & 12

Latter Prophets II
Students will be given an overview of the vital signs, essential principles and necessary practices of a healthy growing church. Other organizational aspects of various church ministries will be discussed as well.

April 29 & 30

Vision and Planning
John the Apostle speaks in different tones in these three bodies of literature (the Gospel of John; 1, 2, 3 John; Revelation). However, their spiral structure and themes overlap like the strands of a rope. The Gospel of John stands over against the first three Gospels as a meditation written a theological generation later. John addresses the churches of Asia Minor decades after Paul's departure; and his message in the book of Revelation contributes a distinctive visual and apocalyptic witness to the voice of the New Testament. Johannine literature is rich in its teachings on the deity of Christ, eternal life, the Holy Spirit, discernment and last things.

May 27 & 28

Team Building
The literature of Hebrews, James, 1 & 2 Peter and Jude has challenged many interpreters with the issue of diversity in the New Testament. James has been contrasted to Paul; Hebrews has a unique perspective; Peter contains some of the most difficult passages in the New Testament; and Jude's use of the intertestamental books of 1 Enoch and the Assumption of Moses has baffled many. Yet the early church fought to keep these books in the canon to balance its witness to Jesus. To understand why this is so is to round out one's knowledge of the message of the New Testament.

July 22 & 23

Systematic Theology I
After studying each section of Scripture in VLI, we want to ask what the whole Bible-as understood throughout the history of the church-teaches about the major topics of the faith: Authority of Scripture, God, Man, Christ, Salvation, the Church and Last Things. In this postmodern era a fresh discussion about the nature of biblical authority is needed. This first weekend intensive on Systematic Theology will deal with the doctrines of Scripture, God and Man.

August 19 & 20

Systematic Theology II
This second weekend intensive on Systematic Theology will complete our survey of the great themes of the Christian faith. We will study how the early church grappled with the deity and humanity of Christ, how his life and death were effective for our salvation, the nature and life of the church and what the Bible teaches about the Last Things in God's plan for mankind and creation (including death and resurrection, heaven and hell and the regeneration of the cosmos).

October 21 & 22

The Synoptic Gospels
The Vineyard is not only evangelical in doctrine but embraces the empowering of the Holy Spirit to heal the sick, cast out demons and do the miraculous to advance the Kingdom of God and glorify His name. In this course physical healing and the gifts of the Holy Spirit will be emphasized. This class will focus on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the values and practices of Jesus' healing ministry and practical instructions and guidelines for a balanced healing ministry. We will have "clinic" times in class where we wait on the Holy Spirit, ask Jesus to minister in power ("do the stuff"), and point out what God is doing for the benefit and instruction of the students.

November 18 & 19

Acts & Missions
This intensive takes up where the Healing I: Physical Afflictions, left off. This course deals with healing people from damaged emotions and demonic bondages. Our assumption is that Jesus Christ heals people not only physically but also spiritually and emotionally. Students will learn about breaking the power of traumatic memories as well as helping people walk away from them towards freedom in Christ. In addition, instruction will be given on detecting demonic influence that hinders people's walk with Christ and how to break its power over them.
