Amre
Comes Home!

With some help from her dad, 6-year-old Amre
Haskell walks out of Elks Rehabilitation
Hospital on Thursday
Four months after being hit by a truck while crossing the
street, 6-year-old Amre Haskell left the hospital Thursday to start her life again.
"Now we're on a different road," said Amre'
mother, DarNell.
The Nov. 18 accident injured Amre's brain, left her in a
coma for weeks and short-circuited control of her muscle groups. In January, doctors
declared Amre had fully emerged from the coma.
Although she no longer has to stay at Elks Rehabilitation
Hospital, she will make daily visits and continue to receive speech and physical therapy
to help restore the connections between her brain and the rest of her body.
"I'm hoping it will be therapy in itself just being
home," DarNell said.
