The
Vineyard Christian Home School Co-Op is an important part of the Family
Ministries at Vineyard Boise's. We currently have classes for
students from pre-school through the 8th
grade. Their families pay tuition to
support the part-time teaching staff, principal, and cover operating
expenses.
Our vision is to help
families who want to home-school their kids. We come alongside them and support their
home-schooling efforts.
The school has chosen a
Bible-based curriculum, and teachers develop lesson schedules and learning
expectations all empowering parents to be the primary teachers. "We're just the secondary teachers," the school
administration says. In our school students spend Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays learning at home and on Tuesdays and Thursdays they
attend school at Vineyard Boise's Ezra Family Center.
On
Tuesdays and Thursdays we
provide a classroom
environment where students can do more of the group hands-on kinds of the
things - science projects, field trips, craft projects & spelling bees to
name a few. The
school also gives parents
opportunities to get their kids involved in extra
activities like art, chess club, foreign language study and athletics. We
also provide a venue for testing.
Parents are
also encouraged
to be involved in the classroom on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In fact there is
a volunteer requirement that must be filled where parents can volunteer
to be monitor lunch, help with sports, drive for field trips, help in the
classroom or help in special school projects.
Students who finish
eighth grade in the Vineyard school are prepared to continue their
education in whatever setting they and their parents choose, be it public school,
private school or home school.
.Although no serious effort has been made to
track students who graduate from the Vineyard school, most kids who go on to
public or private school enter prepared or over prepared for their next step
in education.
Vineyard
Home School Co-Op
is not
for everybody, but if you want to home-school this might be just the program
you have been looking for.
